Last week the journal Expansión published an article about how much does it cost to set fashion week, comparing Milan, París, London, NY and Cibeles. The four first ones are the most important ones in the world, but I think that Cibeles is still very far from being such an influent fashion show as the other ones, and until they renew the designers and include other designers, more original or with something different to offer, the spanish fashion week will have nothing to do with the big ones.
Armand Basi, a talented spanish designer, realised that he hadn't any future in Cibeles, and now he's in London and Paris showing his collections in fashion week, he's being very praised, which is great because he deserves it. For instance, he spends 1,5 millions of euros each year on the runways.
In the case of Madrid Fashion Week, Cibeles provides the ilumination, the runway, the invites design (wow, hard work they have done! ;), the music, the models, the helpers... everything, that's it. It is a great advantage, but this makes the shows very similar between them. I wish we had sceneries like Galliano's or Lacroix's. If a certain brand wants to arrange its show outside the established place they must pay everything for themselves, as TCN did, his last fashion show costed 180.000 €.

Although it is a great way of getting known for the designers, they still have a lot to do, well, in my opinion Cibeles was very well prepared and organised. Also, thanks to the fashion show in Cibeles, the designers say that they earn about 90.000 € just because of the show.
La semana pasada publicaron un artículo en Expansión sobre lo que cuesta llevar a cabo una Semana de la Moda, comparando Milán, París, Londres y NY con Cibeles. Las cuatro pasarelas primeras son las más importantes del mundo, pero me temo que Cibeles aún está mucho más atrás, y hasta que no renueven los diseñadores e incluyan a alguno que sea más original o con algo nuevo que aportar no van a avanzar nada.

Cibeles proporciona la iluminación, la pasarela, el diseño de las invitaciones (uy, sí, han hecho un gran trabajo), la música, las modelos, los ayudantes... es decir, todo. Esto, aunque es una ventaja, hace que los desfiles sean muy poco distintos entre sí, y haya poca variedad. Ojalá tuviéramos escenarios como los de Galliano o Lacroix.
Si la marca quiere realizar su desfile fuera del recinto se lo tiene que pagar todo, así que a TCN le ha costado 180.000 euros su último desfile.
Aunque sin duda es una buena manera de darse a conocer para los diseñadores, aún les queda mucho por recorrer a los de Cibeles, eso sí, a mí me pareció que en general estaba bastante bien organizado todo. Además, calculan que gracias a un desfile en Cibeles los diseñadores llegan a ingresar hasta 90.000 €.
