Blog's 4th Anniversary

That's right. The blog turned four years old a couple of weeks ago. More than 1000 posts, thousands of comments, and the most important, lots of happy moments.

To all of you who read the blog everyday, to those who just found it, this post is dedicated to you (well, every post is actually dedicated to you). Thank you for visiting Miss at la Playa. I hope you keep enjoying the blog for a long time.

To celebrate the anniversary of the blog, I'm posting the images from the book of my favourite photographer, Mario Testino. He's edited several books already, but "Let me in" is, undoubtedly, the one that best defines him. Celebrities like Angelina Jolie (with Ashton Kutcher) opened their home's doors to Mario Testino and let him immortalize their most spontaneous and intimate moments. A real sight into fame, from the positive and artistic eye of the peruvian photographer. You can buy the book online at Amazon for $34 (used). I highly recommend it.

Así es. El blog cumplió cuatro años hace unas semanas. Más de 1000 posts, miles de comentarios, y por encima de todo, muchas alegrías.

A todos los que leéis el blog cada día, y a los que acabáis de llegar, os dedico este post (aunque en realidad, cada post que publico va dedicado a vosotros). Gracias por visitar Miss at la Playa. Espero que sigáis disfrutando del blog durante mucho tiempo más.

Con motivo del cuarto aniversario, hoy publico las imágenes del libro de mi fotógrafo favorito, Mario Testino. Ha editado varios libros con su trabajo, pero "Let me in" es sin duda el que más le define. Celebrities como Angelina Jolie o Demi Moore (con Ashton Kutcher) le abren las puertas a Mario y se dejan fotografiar en las situaciones más espontáneas e íntimas. Un vistazo muy real de la fama, desde la mirada positiva y artística que caracteriza al fotógrafo peruano. El libro se puede comprar en Amazon por $35 (seminuevo). Os lo recomiendo.

Round glasses, current obsession

Round glasses are one of the most difficult accesories to wear. They don't look good on every shape, they can make you look like a hippie or a clown. If you are one of the few lucky people that can pull off these fabulous glasses, go ahead! :)

This kind of shape adds a lot of personality to an outfit. They are risky, and original. Here you have some examples. What do you think? Yay or nay? I love them, but I'm not brave enough to buy a pair yet...

Las gafas redondas son uno de los complementos más difíciles de llevar. No sientan bien a todos, y sin querer se puede parecer un hippie o un payaso. Si eres una de las pocas personas a las que les quedan bien estas gafas tan geniales, ¡adelante!

Este tipo de silueta dan mucha personalidad a un outfit. Son arriesgadas, y originales. Os propongo aquí varios ejemplos. ¿Qué opináis? ¿Sí o no? Personalmente, me encantan, pero aún no me atrevo a comprarme unas...

The school folder

When the school year began, I loved decorating the folder with papercuts I had compiled from magazines. All sorts of photos, collages, tags, pieces of fabric... Anything that looked good. More than adding pictures of my favourite actors (ok, you can spot one of them in one of the pics), I used to stick pages from fashion magazines. They had to be beautiful, as I was going to see them everyday all the time.

How did you use to decorate your folders?

Cada vez que empezaba el curso escolar, me encantaba decorar la carpeta o el archivador con recortes que había ido recopilando de las revistas. Fotografías de todo tipo, collages, etiquetas, telas... Cualquier cosa que quedara bien. Más que pegar fotos de mis actores favoritos (aunque en una de estas imágenes se puede apreciar a uno de ellos), solía poner páginas de revistas de moda. Tenían que ser imágenes bonitas, porque iba a verlas cada día continuamente.

The style of... Poppy Delevigne

I must say that Poppy's style is not different, original or personal. But she always looks great on the red carpets and partying. She's beautiful and she always smiles. A mix between January Jones and Sarah Michelle Gellar. Muse of Matthew Williamson and Henry Holland, friend of Sienna Miller, Dree Hemingway... She's a model, a Chanel ambassador. A socialite.

She knows what fits her, and can combine colours really well. You can take some ideas for outfits, like mixing a red blazer with a total-black look, wearing bright colours in winter, leather trousers...
