Gwyneth Paltrow wears Prada to cook dinner

gwyneth paltrow, vogue, mario testino

The best thing in these pictures is the awesome white shirt by Pink Tartan and the Olatz pale-blue silk pajama shirt Gwyneth wears. Mario Testino shot this editorial for Vogue US August 2010 showing Gyneth Paltrow as the ideal american mother. I love the elegance of the images and how fake they are at the same time.

Blog's 4th Anniversary

mario testino let me in
That's right. The blog turned four years old a couple of weeks ago. More than 1000 posts, thousands of comments, and the most important, lots of happy moments.

To all of you who read the blog everyday, to those who just found it, this post is dedicated to you (well, every post is actually dedicated to you). Thank you for visiting Miss at la Playa. I hope you keep enjoying the blog for a long time.

To celebrate the anniversary of the blog, I'm posting the images from the book of my favourite photographer, Mario Testino. He's edited several books already, but "Let me in" is, undoubtedly, the one that best defines him. Celebrities like Angelina Jolie (with Ashton Kutcher) opened their home's doors to Mario Testino and let him immortalize their most spontaneous and intimate moments. A real sight into fame, from the positive and artistic eye of the peruvian photographer. You can buy the book online at Amazon for $34 (used). I highly recommend it.

Delicious accesories

Food shaped jewelry is my weakness. I have a ring with two bagels and bread that I find so fun. So when I knew about Abataba, the "buy it now" feeling stroke again. The bad thing is that if you are hungry and have a croissant shaped necklace, it can be a torture

Check "Uno por uno", the creations of Lorena, a young industrial designer with a very romantic style. You can view (and buy) the embellished t-shirts collection here.

Sorteo de invitaciones a Cibeles /// Win an invitation to Madrid Fashion Week

madrid fashion week, cibeles
(english instructions at the end)

ENGLISH:

I can't believe it! Gwyneth Paltrow will attend the Adolfo Dominguez Fashion Show!!!!! She's one of my favourite actresses, how many times I've talked about Margot Tenenbaum, how many times I've seen "Shakespeare in love"...

The dress she wore when she won her Oscar for her brilliant performance in "Shakespeare in Love" was truly beautiful. A Walt Disney princess dressed in Ralph Lauren. It was a bit "cotton candy", but I must say that it is my favourite outfit of all I've seen on the red carpet. The hairstyle and the accesories were just the right type.

The contest is opened to anyone that can attend a fashion show of Madrid Fashion Week.

How to participate:
- Send an email to verymoni@gmail.com and answer the following questions:
How do you think people will dress in 300 years? How will the fashion industry (brands, magazines...) have changed? Will the main fashion houses of today still dictate the trends in 300 years?
- Choose an option:
Option A: I prefer to attend a show on the weekend.
Option B: I prefer to attend a show on monday/tuesday

The best answers will be awarded with an invite for a fashion show. In addition, you'll also have the chance to win a pass for two people for the Cibelespacio (you can visit the place, get magazines, attend courses... but it doesn't allow you to see the fashion show)

The deadline: Thursday at 11:59 PM
I'll announce the winners on Friday. Good luck!

Inspired - Margot Tenenbaum and Sofia Coppola

Today I went to the hairdresser and had my hair cut like Margot from The Tenenbaums
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
I love this film. I remember seeing it for the first time with a friend and totally hating it. She really liked it, and I thought she was crazy. I used to tell everyone that was the worst film in the world. That suicide scene with Luke Wilson had gotten stuck in my mind and I couldn't forget it.
But then I watched Life Aquatic, and I adored it. So I thought to myself: "If it is the same director, and the actors are great (Gwyneth Paltrow, Owen Wilson, Bill Murray...)... it has to be a good film" So I rented it and watched it again. And I loved it. I understood the characters, and the aesthetic of the scenes. It was brilliant.

My favourite character was Margot, who writes plays at the age of twelve, smokes since then and wears a fur coat. Who doesn't want to be like her?
I have already talken about her (a little) here.

I highly recommed you to read this fabulous series: "relooking des héroïnes de notre enfance" by The Cherry Blossom Girl, a look on the most inspiring characters in film and literature.
---------------------------

Y entonces vi Life Aquatic, y me pareció genial. Y me encantó.

The Real Life of Vogue Interns
"Meeting the managing editor is out of the question. We didn't have desks or a chair or anywhere to sit. There was one computer and one chair — that was basically the general intern and computer chair. If you had to print out pictures or do a return on the computer, you had to wait to use it. I felt that we were just a big army. At any time in the closet there were about fifteen of us. For the most part, people didn't know who you were individually." Ashley in The Cut
