I'll be right back!

I'll be in hospital for five days (until Sunday) or so. Don't worry, it's not anything bad. In fact, it is rather boring, so let's say that I was struck by a shark while surfing in Hawaii and I need a surgery.

I'll miss you so much, I'll miss the fashion news and I'll miss wearing something apart from the unstylish hospital pajamas. Life there is quite boring and grey (when things are kind of boring I say they are "grey"), my hair will look like Cory's (unbrushed and unwashed) and I will be praying for decent food (hospital's is awful).
In spite of the fact that Marc Jacobs and Richard Prince have shown that the hospitals world is fashionable, it is not. I haven't seen any Louis Vuitton bag, but, well, I should add that my doctor had Vogues in his waiting room. And he wears Loewe ties.
Anyway, this is bad, so I hope it will end sooner than expected.

Unless I use my mom's laptop I won't be able to reply to your mails and comments, and the blog updates will have to wait until Sunday.
The good thing is that I'll be at home for a month and I'll have time to update the blog template, read good books and watch films.

I recommend you had a look at the blogs linked on the sidebar. They are great.

It seems that this hairstyle was really "in" some years ago (but only in editorials, thank god). They remind me of this scene of Amadeus (a great film, you must watch it), when Mozart is at the hairdresser choosing a wig, and he can't decide which one is he going to wear, a pink one or a white one, and he says "I wish I had three heads!", and then he laughs with his funny laugh.

I saw some pictures of Amber Valletta and Linda Evangelista dressed like that in a party with John Galliano. I must scan it for you, it is from "Let me in" by Mario Testino.

Back for more

So I'm back from my holidays (sniff...).

I have had a great time, lots of sun. By the way, I bought a pair of wayfarers! (Well, someone gave them to me as a present, I'm so spoiled :D). They are great, white... I look perfect on them. Right now I'm looking at them, they are on my desktop. Shining. Okay, I stop, haha.

I went to the beach, I have been tanning and looking at the sky (with diaaamonds...), thinking and reading a lot. I bought a stack of magazines and I did nothing but read them and drink fresh beverages. It has been great.
I also went to Marbella, and did a lot of shopping in Puerto Banus. Well, if you call shopping this: "Can I take this catalogue, please?". At the end of the day I was carrying Dior, Loewe, Armani shopping bags as if I had just bought the most expensive handbags and shoes.
I was astonished when I saw how many fake handbags and belts they were selling. They even stopped next to the boutiques, so you could see a man selling fake Loewes next to the real Loewe boutique. Something like: "Well, you saw the prices and you didn't buy anything, so buy yourself this gift, it looks almost the same". I laughed out loud when I saw a belt with the Louis Vuitton logo and big CHANEL letters in gold.
Oh, and when I entered the Chloé boutique (can you believe I had never been to a Chloé boutique?), I felt in paradise. The clothes were ethereal silk clouds and the dresses whispered "Buy me, wear me". I was like "I can't believe I am touching what I've been seeing on the internet over and over". I felt I could stay there forever.

Ya he vuelto de mis vacaciones. (Sniff....)

Although Fashionologie and Starbucks and Jane Austen have already posted about it, I can't avoid publishing this great cover from Nylon.
By the way, I suscribed two months ago and I still haven't received any issue. Bad Nylon, bad!

Now, the meme that Tinsley has asked me to do:

What is the story behind the name of your blog and your nickname?
As I already explained, I wanted a mix between what I like the most (la playa, or the beach, which is the same but in spanish). And I loved the "Miss", so that's how I made the name.
I also use the nickname Verymoni, because my real name is Monica, but they call me Moni, and the web I made was very moni, you know, very me.

Why did you start blogging in the first place?
Because I was tired of the rest of blogs. Well, I loved and I still love reading them, but I would upset when they didn't update, so I created my own blog to update whenever I liked. I also wanted to post about things that I liked and that I found interesting. From clothes to Jude Law.

What has been your best blogging experience? What about the worst?
The best is always yet to come, but the comments are always a pleasure, and I thank you all my readers for them. Your comments are great. About the worst... maybe having my posts copied without crediting.

What do you think/ want to happen to your blog in 2008?
I want to change the design, organize things a little bit...

I can't take the eyes off you

Also, enjoy this video from the beginning of Closer, with the song "I can't take the eyes off you" by Damien Rice. I love this film because it is sweet and cruel at the same time, and Natalie Portman is brilliant in her character. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

Indian

I can't decide which style I like the most. The french fille coquette et petite? She wears ballerinas, bows, diadems, cardigans and sweet colors. The elegant and simple? She wears black and white, beautiful hats and high heels, she reads Jane Austen and watches Audrey Hepburn films. The rock girl? She loves leather jackets, ray-ban aviators, she wears a irina-esque fringe and listens to The Strokes in her black ipod. The modern one? The colors of her closet are fluor, neon, bright yellow and fuchsia, there isn't a single natural fabric, she wears vinyl trousers and she'd kill for a Martin Margiela show pass. The surfer girl? She has long hair, she wears bathing suits as underwear and no make-up, she listens to the Beach Boys and her favourite film is "Blue Crush". The hippie? Her hair is longer than her legs, she only buys natural clothes, she's vegetarian and her motto is "make art, not war".
So, after I wrote this, I came to the conclusion that I'm a mix of all. One of my favourite films is "Breakfast at Tiffany's", I wear no make-up (I swear that's true), I have long hair, I love leather jackets, I wish I could dress like Robin Wright-Penn in "Forrest Gump", I love vinyl trousers, I love bright colors, and the only shoes I wear are a pair of black ballerinas and a pair of brown leather menorquinas.
Lately I've dying for a new hairstyle. I want it in a hippie style, with little colourful beads, like Jack Sparrow (I mean, Captain Jack Sparrow) in Pirates of the Caribbean, but then I realize it doesn't fit with my plastic raincoat and the high heels.
You see, that's a big problem my friends. Haha.
So, while I think of what can I do, let's enjoy this great editorial from Citizen K.

The Modettes: Las nominaciones finales

Good Covers

The covers of the spanish magazines are not as cool as the french, english and american ones, but there are some exceptions that must be mentioned.

Elle Supplement:

I love their collages, they are always super-colourful and spontaneous.

"March is my favourite month, the sales are over at last and everything is expensive, exclusive and seasonable again"
