An ode to Elle UK

I've said many times on the blog that Elle UK is my favourite international magazine (yes, I love it more than Vogue Paris). I'm subscribed to it, and everytime that it arrives on the mailbox, it is a moment of happiness. It usually arrives very early in the month, which is a surprise considering how bad subscriptions services are. I don't understand why they don't send the issues to the subscriptors first, as they are actually their best readers, don't you think? I hate seeing a magazine on the newstands and not to buying it because I'm subscribed to it.

I know that Elle UK is not going to disappoint me. Every cover is fantastic, and even though I'm not a fan of all the celebrities portrayed, I must say that the photographs are usually amazing. I'm talking about the subscriptors special covers, but the normal ones are good as well. The articles and the fashion items choices are always great too, which is very important.

Today I'm posting the best Elle UK covers (mostly all of them, actually), because when I saw their latest one with Chanel Iman (february 2011), it reminded me of how good they are. This post is an ode to Elle UK.

Ya he dicho muchas veces que Elle UK es mi revista internacional favorita (sí, por encima de Vogue Paris). Estoy suscrita a ella, y cada vez que llega al buzón, es toda una alegría. Normalmente suele llegar muy pronto, lo que es una sorpresa, considerando lo mal que funcionan las suscripciones de las revistas. No entiendo por qué no envían las revistas a los suscriptores antes, si son sus mejores lectores, ¿no os parece? Odio ver una revista en los kioskos y no comprármela porque estoy suscrita a ella y todavía me tiene que llegar. Por eso sólo estoy suscrita a Elle UK, porque no llega a España.

Sé que Elle UK no me va a decepcionar. Cada portada es fantástica, y aunque no sea fan de todas las celebrities que aparecen, debo decir que las fotografías elegidas son realmente buenas. Hablo de las portadas especiales para suscriptores, pero las normales también están muy bien. Los artículos y las prendas para las guías de estilo son geniales también, que es importante.

Hoy publico mis portadas preferidas (casi todas, en realidad), porque cuando he visto la última con Chanel Iman (febrero 2011), me han recordado lo buenos que son. Este post es una oda a Elle UK.

I love love love James McAvoy... surtout after I watched "Atonement" where he appears at his best... I wish he did more films, and well, better films, because "Wanted" and "Jane Austen"(with Anne Hathaway) were horrible, despite the fact that he acts quite well /// Me encanta James McAvoy... sobretodo después de ver "Expiación", donde aparece guapísimo. Ojalá hiciera más películas, o bueno, películas mejores, porque "Wanted" y "La joven Jane Austen" (con Anne Hathaway) son realmente malas, y eso que él actúa bastante bien.

I think I'm obsessed with this picture... everytime I find a new version, I have to save it in my computer. It's from "Lost in Translation" /// Estoy obsesionada con esta foto... cada vez que encuentro una versión nueva la tengo que guardar en mi ordenador. Es de la peli "Lost in Translation".

Yeah, it's absurd, but that's how Wes Anderson (the film director) is. /// Una escena de la película "Los Tenenbaums", cuando descubre que la chica que ama se va a casar con un profesor aburridísimo. Pierde el partido de tenis y se empieza a quitar los calcetines en medio de la pista. Absurdo, pero Wes Anderson (el director) es así.

Save Polaroid!

I've been dying for a Polaroid Automatic camera. I looked on ebay and there were some cameras for less than $10 (great! I thought) But then I saw that the film costs $60 for 50 shots.
Why did they stop producing automatic cameras and film? Why? WHY??

Lo que más me apetecería ahora es empezar a hacer fotos sin ton ni son con una polaroid automática. Miré en ebay y venden algunas por menos de 10 dólares (¡genial! pensé yo). Pero entonces vi lo que costaba un carrete de 50 fotos: 60 dólares.
¿Por qué dejaron de producir cámaras automáticas y carretes? ¿Por qué?

¿Sabías que...

gracias a que Winona Ryder robara prendas de Marc Jacobs en Saks, Marc la contrató para su campaña publicitaria?

Generó tal avalancha de publicidad que tomó la acertada decisión de hacerla protagonista de los anuncios, en los que ella aparecía fotografiada por Jüergen Teller en una habitación de hotel. Las podéis ver aquí.

Opinión: Ésta campaña junto con la de Dakota Fanning son las únicas que realmente me gusten que haya fotografiado Jüergen Teller. Bueno, en realidad todas las campañas de Marc Jacobs las fotografía Jüergen, así que no hay muchas opciones.
En primer lugar, me gusta por Winona. Sale muy graciosa y natural, algo que consigue Jüergen en todas las fotografías. Me gusta la segunda foto, con todos los platos llenos de comida desperdigados por el suelo, tiene su gracia.

En segundo lugar, por los tonos. Son todos tonos cálidos, hogareños.
Otra campaña que tiene Marc Jacobs con Teller es la de Sofia Coppola, pero ésta no me llega a convencer, es un poco antiestética.
