Your dream job? I’d love the kind of job Sofia Coppola has: she writes and directs her own movies, she shoots fabulous commercials, she collaborates with fashion firms, she appeared in a Marc Jacobs campaign, and oh, her boyfriend is in a rock band.
Why did you choose Miss at la Playa as the name of the blog? When did you create it? Why? It was initially a LiveJournal account I had created with that name. I liked the word “Miss”, I thought it was elegant and cute, and I also wanted to add something I really liked, something that could define me: la playa (the beach). I love summer and the sea more than anything. I didn’t want the word “fashion” in it as I didn’t want a blog dedicated solely to fashion.
As you don’t have many chances of getting your LJ blog known outside LJ, I registered at blogger and started posting about anything that came to my mind.
My friends (except for Maria) don’t know anything about fashion, and I really wanted to express my opinions and views of this fantastic world, and also read other people’s opinions. So, a rainy Sunday in February, 2007, Miss at la Playa was born.
Which is your favourite song? I love so many ones, but my favourite is “Semicharmed Life” by Third Eye Blind.
Have you ever eaten a hamburger? Yes, of course. They are too big for me, so I don't usually eat hamburgers.
What sign and division are you?: I'm Cancer, but I hate that word. I don't know which division I am.
What did you wanted to be as a kid? Since I was 12 I have always wanted to be a movie director.
Do you sing in the shower? Sometimes I listen to the radio while I am having a shower, so I sing to the songs they are playing. My favourite shower song is "Our House".
How old are you? I'm older than Dakota Fanning and younger than Kirsten Dunst.
Have you taken a course in The Costume Museum of Madrid? No, but I really like that museum. They are closing it because nobody visits it. I have gone to several expositions, I loved the one about Edward Steichen.
If you could only read one magazine… which one would it be? I’d choose Elle UK. I was debating between Elle UK and Vogue Paris, but it is definitely Elle UK. They always have the best articles and the best runway reviews, the guest writers, like Chloë Sevigny, and designers are always the best. In Elle they also write about movies, art, music, books… it is a very complete magazine.
Which is your favourite “affordable” shop? Of course it is Zara. Even if I was millionaire I would still shop at Zara. I find this brand very valuable because they started from scratch in a little village in the north of Spain, and now they are in the most important streets of almost every city in the world. They have many different styles, and have coolhunters all over the world to hunt the latest trends and design new clothes every week. The only bad thing is that you need a good eye and not buy what everyone buys, because you will end up dressing like the rest.
What fragrance do you use? I use Inspiration by Lacoste. I must admit that I bought it after watching the commercial by Ellen von Unwerth. Anyway, it smells perfect for me.
Chanel or LV purses? Now the two of them are so extended that they are not the elegant and classic brands they used to be. The monogram print is so imitated that it looks tacky. If I had to choose, I’d say Chanel purses.
Johnny Depp or Brad Pitt? Johnny Depp, he’s more original and has an unique personality. I used to like David Beckham too, when I was little I had a giant poster of him hanging on my wall.
Chanel or YSL fashion shows? If you mean the clothes, I prefer YSL. If you mean the fashion show itself, Chanel is much more spectacular. Chanel runway shows are more like a real show, but my favourites are Alexander McQueen's and Sonia Rykiel's, her shows are like an injection of happiness, with all the models laughing, smiling, jumping and dancing.
Which type of music do you listen to? Lately I’ve been listening to The Kinks, I saw The Darjeeling Limited the other day and I absolutely loved the soundtrack. I usually prefer positive and cheerful songs, but I also like sad songs. I listen to Coldplay, Third Eye Blind, The Kills, Albert Hammond Jr, MGMT...
Naomi or Tyra? Definitely Naomi. Tyra is too comercial, she has sold her image to everything. Naomi is high fashion, she’s more elegant.
Can you speak/write english fluently? Is this a trick question?
Would you ever move to the UK/America? Of course, I have always thought that I would end up living in New York or California. Personally I'd love to live in California: the beach, the sunny weather... it is perfect.
With whom would you exchange your wardrobe? Mary-Kate Olsen, no doubt. She has so many beautiful clothes on every style, from expensive jewellery to coloured sunglasses. She's my #1 inspiration.
What’s your favourite food? I love Paella (spanish rice, very tasty) and foie. I also love orange juice, chocolate milkshake, all types of pasta...
If you were a fashion editor, how would you make an editorial? What would it look like? The photographer would be Mario Testino, and the models would be Daria Werbowy, Kate Moss, Julia Stegner and Toni Garrn. The locations would be very different, at the beach, in a very beautiful house with a pool... all the models would be smiling and looking very happy, and the sun would shine. The clothes I would choose would be Alexander Wang's, Erin Wasson's jewellery line, the Calvin Klein long dresses from the past Spring/Summer 2008 collection, Stella McCartney dresses...
Will you publish a Frowie book someday? Who knows, but it would be a great idea! I'd love to.
Have you been to Paris? Yes, but I was so little that I only remember the delicious croissants and Disneyland, I want to go back soon.
Do you consider yourself posh? Do you only wear expensive brands? I dress very classy and elegant, effortless at the same time, but I don't buy clothes with giant logos on it, which is what I think being posh is. I shop at normal stores like Zara, H&M, Pull & Bear, Accesorize, Stradivarius, little markets...
How did you become interested in fashion? At the beginning, when I was 13 or so, my main interest in fashion was photography. I bought Vogue for the first time because I saw that all the photos I liked were from that magazine, as I used to look at them on the internet. Then I fell deeply in love with fashion, the collections, the runway shows...
A person who made me love fashion even more is my grandmother. When she was a little girl she used to make her own clothes, she was the most elegant girl in Cartagena, where she lived. She opened her own boutique and famous people like Julio Iglesias would buy her clothes. I am so lucky that I have a person like her in my family. We are so similar.

¿Tu trabajo soñado? El que tiene Sofia Coppola: escribe y dirige películas, rueda anuncios fantásticos, colabora con firmas de moda, aparece en campañas de Marc Jacobs, y ah, su novio es miembro de un grupo de rock.
¿Por qué elegiste Miss at la Playa como nombre del blog? ¿Cuándo lo creaste? ¿Por qué? Al principio me hice una cuenta de LiveJournal con ese nombre, me gustaba el prefijo Miss, suena muy elegante, y luego pensé en algo que me gustara mucho, y me vino a la cabeza "La playa", porque me encanta el verano y el mar. No quería poner la palabra “moda” en el nombre porque aunque mayoritariamente hablo de moda, no se trata únicamente de moda.
Como es muy difícil salir de LJ con un blog, me registré en blogger y entonces fue cuando empezó todo. Necesitaba un sitio donde contar todo lo que se me pasara por la cabeza. A mis amigos no les interesa nada la moda, excepto a María, menos mal, y realmente tenía que expresar todo lo que leía en revistas y también leer las opiniones de los demás.
Así, un domingo lluvioso de Febrero, en el 2007, nació Miss at la Playa.
¿Cuál es tu canción favorita? Mi canción favorita es "Semicharmed Life", de Third Eye Blind.
¿De qué decanato eres? (signo zodiacal y división): Soy Cáncer, pero odio esa palabra. No sé qué es división.
¿Has comido una hamburguesa alguna vez? Sí, por supuesto. Es demasiada cantidad para mí así que no suelo.
¿Qué querías ser de pequeña? Desde que tenía 12 años siempre he querido ser directora de cine.
¿Cantas en la ducha? Si es sí... explica qué. Cuando me ducho a veces oigo la radio, así que canto las canciones que estén poniendo. Mi canción de la ducha favorita es “Our Song”
¿Qué edad tienes? Soy mayor que Dakota Fanning pero más joven que Kirsten Dunst.
¿Estás haciendo o has hecho algún curso en el Museo del Traje? No, pero me gusta mucho ese museo, aunque no me extraña que lo vayan a cerrar porque va muy poca gente. Es una pena, la verdad, porque las exposiciones que hacen suelen ser muy buenas. Fui a una del fotógrafo Edward Steichen y me encantó.
Si pudieras quedarte con sólo con una revista...¿con cual te quedarias? Con Elle UK. Dudaba entre Elle UK y Vogue París, pero si tuviera que elegir una, sería Elle UK. Tiene todo lo que me gusta, resúmenes estupendos de las últimas tendencias, artículos inteligentes, reviews de cine, música, arte y literatura... y además la maquetación es impecable y muy original.
¿Cuál es tu "marca accesible" favorita? Sin duda, Zara. Aunque yo fuera millonaria seguiría comprando allí. Tienen muchísimo mérito porque han construido una empresa que nació en un pueblo de Galicia y que ahora mismo está en las mejores calles de todas las ciudades del mundo. Ofrecen ropa de diseño, y cambian rapidísimamente de estilos y de prendas. Lo único malo es que puedes acabar vistiendo como todo el mundo si no tienes buen ojo al comprar.
¿Qué perfume usas? Uso Inspiration de Lacoste. Debo admitir que me la compré después de ver el anuncio dirigido por Ellen Von Unwerth. Tiene un aroma perfecto para mi gusto.
¿Carteras LV o CHANEL? En este momento están tan imitadas las dos marcas que no sabría qué decirte. Si tuviera que comprarme una, diría que Chanel.
¿Johnny Depp o Brad Pitt? Johnny Depp, tiene más personalidad. Antes me encantaba, junto con David Beckham. De pequeña tenía un póster a tamaño real en la pared de mi habitación.

Una persona que hace que la moda me guste todavía más es mi abuela. De niña ella se hacía sus propios vestidos, y era la que mejor vestía de toda Cartagena, donde ella vivía. Abrió su propia boutique y mucha gente famosa, por ejemplo Julio Iglesias, le compraban su ropa. Tengo mucha suerte de tener a alguien así en mi familia. Dicen que somos muy parecidas.

PD: Mercadillo Movement:
Para los que estéis en Madrid, pasaros por el mercadillo Movement, en la calle Argensola nº30 4 izq. Hay ropa de Ailanto, Oliphant, Juicy Couture, Jocomomola, Mott... hay ropa muy mona, y baratísima. Sólo aceptan dinero en efectivo y no se pueden cambiar las cosas después de comprarlas. Lo mejor: cajas y cajas de prendas sólo a 15 €. El mercadillo acaba el jueves 11 a las 7 de la tarde. Horario ininterrumpido de 11 de la mañana a 7 y media de la tarde. Hoy lunes no abren.
Y ya que estáis, pasaros por Marc by Marc Jacobs, que está al lado.
