Between me and a friend of my brother:
'Mmh... do you like fashion?' (that was an obvious question as I was reading Vogue Paris)
'Yes, I quite like it'
'Is Viktorandrolf a good designer?'
'They are two people, Viktor AND Rolf' (anyway, I was surprised he knew that name)
'Yeah... what do you think about the graffiti techiques they've used in the autumn winter collection?'
'Have you been reading my magazines?'
'Humm, yeah... but do people really wear those clothes? It's horrible'
'Of course'
'Well, I've never seen a woman dressed like that'
'That's because you don't really care about it'
'Yes, you're right'
Between me and some friends, while reading Glamour at the beach:
'Oh, I love Mischa Barton! She's so pretty!'
'Yeah, me too...' I say
'Look at Angelina... I love her!'
'Really? I can't stand her!'
'She's so pretty'
'Did you know her lips are authentic?'
'What?? That's impossible!'
'Yeah, it's true, I saw a picture of her when she was 10 and her lips looked exactly as they are now'
'I wouldn't have imagined'
'Oh, Marc Jacobs, isn't it unbelievable how he has changed?' I say
'Who?'
'I don't know him'
'He's a designer' I explain
'Oh...'
It is funny for me to have that kind of conversations about fashion with people that have no idea of fashion. I know that not everybody has to know who is Alexander McQueen or what's a Birkin Bag, but it makes me laugh. Sometimes I need to come back to the real world, where people don't act crazily when the Prada collection has just been put up in style.com.
Some other things I've heard:
"Yeah, Christian Dior IS a great designer"
A friend of mine said she had a box of make-up by Chanel, and other friend of mine replied: "Oh, Chanel!! I know that label! The logo is two C's, isn't it??!?" like she had just discovered America.
Talking with a male friend: 'What are you saying? Chanel is a man!" he said, and I replied: "But no, she was a woman!" and he said: "No, I've seen him, the one with a white ponytail" and I added: "That's Karl Lagerfeld"

Have you had these type of conversations with your friends?
------------------------
Hablando con un amigo de mi hermano:
- Ehh... ¿a tí te gusta la moda? -me pregunta.
- Sssi... me gusta bastante.
- ¿Has estado leyendo mis revistas?
- Claro
- Pues yo nunca he visto a ninguna chica vestida así
-Ay, ¡me encanta Mischa Barton!
