Fashion for kids has always seemed a curious thing for me. On the one hand, it is very cute to see the little kids all dressed up, with perfect haircuts, but in the other hand, it is stupid to spend a lot on clothes that won't fit in some months (unless their younger brothers inherit them). But then you see the clothes by Hackett, Bosch, Ralph Lauren, Jacadi, Tommy Hilfiger, Burberry... and you can't avoid holding a mini jersey and say "Oooh... how cuuute!"
The key is, like in many other things, knowing what to choose. Zara blazers, shorts from Benneton, shirts by Kiddy's Class, necklaces, bracelets from Accesorize... they must look and be cute and happy, but that doesn't mean their parents have to spend on clothes more than on books.
Here you have this editorial, although it is a contradiction of what I just said (the clothes are from Dior, Chloé...), I really like it because the styling is wonderful, the outfits are modern (not too much), originals, and suitable for their age (I hate when babies wear clothes for older people, like jeans, it must be so uncomfortable for them!). But this is what the fashion magazines are for, to get inspiration from them and create outfits as good, or even better, that the ones you see on their pages, with a much smaller budget.

La moda para niños siempre me ha parecido algo curioso. Por una parte es una monada que los niños pequeños vayan arregladitos y peinaditos, pero por otra parte es una tontería gastarse mucho dinero en ropa que a los pocos meses ya no les cabe (a no ser que pasen a sus hermanos pequeños). Pero claro, luego ves la ropita de Hackett, Bosch, Ralph Lauren, Jacadi, Tommy Hilfiger, Burberry... y es imposible no sujetar un mini jersey con los brazos y decir: "Oooh... mira qué mooono..."
La clave está, como con todo lo demás, en saber elegir. Blazers de Zara, bermudas de Benneton, zapatos de Jeromín, rebecas de Kiddy's Class (también del grupo Inditex), diademas, collares, pulseras, etc, de Accesorize... la cosa es que vayan guapos y contentos, no que sus padres se gasten más en ropa que en libros.
Os dejo aquí esta editorial, que aunque sea una contradicción a lo que acabo de decir (la ropa que aparece en las fotos es de Dior, Chloé...), me gustó mucho cuando la vi porque el estilismo es muy bueno, los conjuntos son modernos sin pasarse, originales (nada de florecillas microscópicas ni rombos) y adecuados a su edad (no me gusta nada que niños de meses lleven pantalones vaqueros... debe de ser incomodísimo para ellos). Al final, para eso están las revistas, para coger inspiración y luego lograr conjuntos tan buenos o incluso mejores que los que aparecen entre sus páginas con mucho menos presupuesto.

I am publising this post on the most exciting day for the children in Spain: Los Reyes Magos will leave all sorts of presents tonight, and tomorrow in the morning thousands of cheerful kids will run to the living room and open their presents.
