Fashion Machine
I have always loved these photographs by Eugenio Recuenco. They are simple, but there is a magical touch in them, don't you think?

Like in the movies
The short film is done!!! I can't believe how tired I am, these two days have been so stressful, I would go out at 9 in the morning and then I arrived at home at 9 in the night.
I imagine that you want to know how the dressing went. Everything went better that I had expected. The workaholic wore silk trousers and a pale blue shirt (she wanted to wear a short-sleeved red shirt, but fortunately, the director told her that colour would look bad with the decoration, so she had to wear MY blue shirt). The mother wore a purple dress (I wanted beige and brown, but she didn't like it), pearls and straight hair. The hippy was the best dressed, she liked everything I had thought, she was so nice. Well, the three of them were very nice, but I couldn't understand their problem with the costumes. The director (who was extremely nice and funny, I'm so lucky he was the director of my story) was on their side, and everything I proposed about the costumes he would say no. It is strange, because I proposed technical things too, like "Why don't you edit that scene after that one?" and he would listen to me and do what I had said. I don't know why he didn't like my costume ideas. Anyway, he was the best. We went out to have lunch and to have an editing break and he was wearing ray-ban aviators, they were beautiful!
I am so happy with all the team, they are so nice! I had a great great great time with them. The art director was a belgian girl who was so funny that I would laugh everytime I was with her. That girl was crazy, lol.
The premiere is in september (well, it is a small premiere, but it is exciting!)
Sorry for the lack of "real" fashion posts, but tomorrow fashion will return to this blog!
Thank you for all your supportive comments on the last post, they helped me to be more confident!

COACD: Confessions Of an Angry Costume Designer
Remember the short film I was making? About three women: a mother, a workaholic and a hippy. Tomorrow's the shooting... And I'm angry. Why? Because nobody listens to me and my wardrobe choices. Ok, they want a tacky mother instead of the elegant and classy I had designed? Fine, let the actress dress in her own clothes. Can you believe that the actresses don't listen to the Costume Designer (that's me)?!?? That's because they don't give a f*** about the clothes. You know, I'm the only one who's worried about what the characters will wear, they think the costumes aren't important for the film, and I can't discuss it because they won't change their mind. The actresses want to decide all the clothes they'll be wearing in the short film, can you believe it? Since when has the actress decided what she'll be wearing? Can you imagine Kirsten Dunst telling Milena Canonero "Milena... mmh... I prefer my hair straight, I don't like those wigs" Of course you cannot, it is not normal.
Most popular complaints from the actresses I've heard today:
- "But it is summer! I don't want a long-sleeved shirt!" - Fine, can you find an elegant sleeveless shirt? I don't.
- "Soft colors don't look good on me"
- "I think the mother [classy and elegant, remember] could wear these golden earrings" -The earrings were horrible and totally tacky.
- "A vest? No, no"
I just want them to be like Andy in the wardrobe scene from Devil wears Prada, when Nigel says "You'll wear what I tell you and you'll like it"
I have in mind a perfect outfit for the workaholic, very Diane Keaton-ish. Soft silk trousers, a pale blue three-quarters shirt and a striped brown vest. But she doesn't want the vest. It adds the perfect touch!
I really don't know what to do. What do you think I should tell them so they'll listen to me? They just treat me like I was invisible.

Runway Music
The only thing from a fashion show that I wouldn't like if it wasn't in a fashion show (I like the dresses when street people wear them, I like to see the models in editorials...) is the music. When you are attending a fashion show, the music is totally amazing, you know, it makes you shiver of delight, but then, when you hear that same song at home... it is not the same. I have listened to songs that I've heard at fashion shows, but I don't know, I just don't like them without the catwalking. It is like sugarfree ice-cream. It is not ice-cream!
So, in case you are a runway music lover, here you have a compilation of many different runway soundtracks.

I'm the Costume Designer in my short film.
Many of you asked me to post about the short film I'm making. I'm so excited! I'm only the writer, and I am quite frustrated because I can't do anything, now the director is the one in charge, he can decide the actresses, the rhythm..., well, eveything! Luckily, I convinced him and I am the Costume Designer too. I couldn't let anyone dress my characters apart from me! I know them better than anyone. Now I am printing and looking for pictures to illustrate the outfits, it is so fun!. You'll have to wait to see the short film to know the plot, but here you have the characters:
The Mother: Marta has two kids, she doesn't work, she loves decorating and taking care of her children, her husband and the house. She is like an older Blair Waldorf. She wears a headband, pearls and bows. She's very elegant. She dresses in pink, white and beige, soft colors.
The Workaholic: Cristina is a workaholic. She works 10 hours a day and she doesn't have time for herself. She dresses in black and grey, mansuits, blazers...
The Hippy: Raquel is a nature lover. Her style is boho and hippy.

Fashion Heavy, wait for it to load
I was going to talk about "The Graduate", a film I love. It is very slow, things happen very slowly, but the photography is amazing, I love the houses, and the clothes. If you haven't watched it, you should, it is a great film.
But I just found these images, and wow, they are amazing!
